Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information SetsOfLove collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and what choices you have. We follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), even where the law may not strictly require a small operator to.
It applies to members who create profiles, and to visitors who view a profile or use its links.
1. The short version
- We collect what you give us to build your profile, plus basic technical details to run the service.
- Your approved profile is public to anyone with your link. That includes your photos and written answers.
- Your email address and password are never shown on your profile.
- We don't sell your information, and we don't run advertising or tracking cookies.
- You can see, correct or delete your information at any time.
2. Who is responsible
SetsOfLove is run by an individual based in Western Australia. We're the entity that decides how your information is used. Contact details are in section 13.
3. What we collect
Information you give us when you create an account and profile
- Your email address and password. We store the password only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Your first name, age, gender, suburb, city and country.
- Who you'd like to meet and what you're after, such as dates, a relationship, marriage, friendship or just fun.
- What you do for work, how you train, a short "about you", and a few words on who you'd like to meet.
- Your photos.
- Your chosen link stub.
- A record that you accepted our terms and this policy, with the version and the time.
Information about you that your profile reveals
SetsOfLove is for gym-goers of any gender who are looking to meet people. Your photos show your face and appearance. Your profile also shows your gender, who you'd like to meet and the kind of relationship you want, and it may reveal your relationship status. Together these can reveal your sexual orientation. Some of this may be sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect it only with your consent, and you give that consent by creating a profile and choosing what to include. You don't have to add anything that you don't want shown.
Technical information
- A sign-in cookie, so we know you're signed in. It's essential for the service to work.
- A short-lived record of sign-in attempts (your email and the time). We use it to block password guessing, and it's cleared after a short period or after a successful sign-in.
- Standard web server information, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records this to run and secure the service.
Information we create
- Your profile's approval status and any note we leave for you when we ask for a change.
- Records of reports made about you, and any action we've taken.
If you contact us, we keep your message and our reply. We don't collect your exact location, contacts list, financial details or government ID numbers. Please don't send us these.
4. Why we use your information
- To create your account, and to review and approve your profile.
- To show your profile on your link, and in the preview people see when your link is shared.
- To keep SetsOfLove safe, including handling reports, preventing misuse and enforcing our terms.
- To email you about your account, such as approval, password resets and important changes.
- To fix faults and keep the service secure.
- To meet legal obligations.
We use your information only for these purposes, or for a related purpose you'd reasonably expect. We don't use it for marketing by other companies. We'll send you marketing messages only if you ask for them, and every one will include an easy way to opt out (Spam Act 2003 (Cth)).
5. What's public, and who sees what
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Photos, first name, age, gender, who you'd like to meet, what you're after, suburb, city, country, written answers | Anyone who has your profile link, once it's approved |
| Your link stub | Anyone you share it with, and anyone they pass it on to |
| Email address and password | Only you and us. We use your email to contact you. Never shown on your profile |
| Approval notes, reports, server logs | Us only (and our hosting provider for logs) |
Once you share your link, anyone can copy, save, screenshot or pass on what they see. We can't recall that. Deleting your profile removes it from SetsOfLove, but we can't remove copies other people have made, or previews held by other platforms.
We ask search engines not to list profiles. We can't guarantee that all of them follow that request.
6. Sharing buttons and other services
Your profile page has buttons to share your link through Facebook, X, WhatsApp, email, or your device's sharing menu. They're plain links. They don't load code from those companies, and they don't send those companies any information about you until someone selects one.
When someone selects a button, they leave SetsOfLove. The other service's own privacy policy then applies to what it collects. We don't control that and aren't responsible for it.
When a link is shared, apps such as Facebook or WhatsApp usually fetch a preview from our site. That's a request for the preview text and main photo. Those apps may store a copy.
7. Who we share your information with
We don't sell your information. We share it only as follows.
- Service providers. Cloudflare, which hosts the website, our database and your stored photos, and any provider we use to send email. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
- The public and visitors. As set out in section 5.
- Authorities and advisers. Police, courts, regulators or our professional advisers, if the law requires it, or if we reasonably believe it's needed to prevent serious harm or investigate unlawful conduct.
- A successor. If SetsOfLove is transferred to someone else, the new operator will take over your information and must follow this policy.
- With your consent. In any other case you agree to.
8. Storing information overseas
Our providers may store or process your information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States or Europe. When you create a profile, you agree to this. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to the APPs. Under APP 8, we take reasonable steps to make sure they do, but we may not be responsible for what they do once your information leaves Australia.
9. How we protect your information
- Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes, never in plain text.
- Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS).
- Only the operator can see account details and review profiles. Photos of profiles that aren't approved are visible only to their owner and the operator.
- We apply updates to the software we use, and we limit who has access to the systems.
No online service is completely secure, and we can't promise absolute security. Choose a strong, unique password.
If there's a data breach that's likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
10. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account, profile, photos and approval notes | Until you delete your account, or we close it |
| Sign-in attempt records | A short period, then deleted |
| Server logs | As set by our hosting provider |
| Reports and safety records | Up to 2 years after the report is closed, or longer if the law requires |
When you delete your account, we remove your profile, photos and sign-in details from our systems and your link stops working straight away. Our hosting provider may hold backups or logs for a short time afterwards. We keep information only if we must by law or to deal with a safety issue.
11. Your choices and rights
- Access. Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct. Update your profile at any time, or ask us to fix anything that's wrong.
- Delete. Delete your account yourself, or ask us to do it.
- Withdraw consent. Remove any photo or answer, or close your account. Some features then stop working.
- Opt out. Unsubscribe from any marketing message using the link in it.
We'll reply within 30 days. We'll ask you to confirm who you are first. We won't charge you to ask. If we can't give you what you ask for, we'll explain why in writing.
If your photo or details appear on someone else's profile without your consent, tell us. We'll remove them.
12. Cookies and tracking
We use only the cookie needed to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. If this changes, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where required.
13. Questions and complaints
For any privacy question, request or complaint, use the contact email at the bottom of this page. Tell us what happened and what you'd like us to do. We'll investigate and reply in writing, usually within 30 days.
If you aren't satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
14. Under-18s
SetsOfLove is for adults only. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we find that we have, we'll delete it. If you think a profile belongs to someone under 18, report it straight away.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll show the new date at the top and tell members by email about significant changes. Using SetsOfLove after a change means you accept it.
Our terms of use also apply.
